congrats, soosie
before i threw my bouquet, susie's very long time boyfriend snuck up to me and told me to aim for susie because he was going to propose the next month...i tossed the bouquet past the entire group of girls trying to get her to catch it and it landed on the ground with a loud splat. she came up to me after i had thrown two more bouquets (one of which went over the edge and into the bushes, never to be found), and she said everyone was acting like it was diseased and she felt sorry for it, so she salvaged it. i was so excited that she was the one that picked it up, but i couldn't say anything! congrats, girlie!

his photography
i'm going to train my husband to be my second shooter...which is fantastic because he gets to practice on me, and i haven't had good photos of myself since i was a child.

this is a delayed post on my end, but thank you, thanh and gerry, for visiting. i love how i was so preoccupied with buying barbeque fluid, which we already had. i thought you'd be happy to hear that i bought two sets of barbeque utensils today...i don't know how we made it through an entire summer of grilling without any. thanks for the bathmat! it's kicka$$ soft and has inspired me to buy towels to also coordinate with the gorgeous marimekko shower curtain that natasha and nicole got for me.

chinese banquet
we had a fabulous pre-wedding chinese banquet with a fantastically plated 10 course meal at kirin in richmond. i didn't realize till about the third or fourth course that my 50mm lens was indeed capable of taking pictures of my food (i'd kept it tucked away till then because it made everything so much larger than life that you usually have to back way up to take a photo of people). the boy's mom had gifted me the cutest cheongsam i've ever seen, with two lovebirds. a lot of enthusiastic glass clinking happened that night, surprisingly a lot more than at the wedding itself!
i went to the washroom and came back to see this fish on a table where they were plating the meals.
before they let me sit down, one of the guys at my table wrestled my camera out of my hands and made me show him how to make it click continuously....ie 6 shots per second. i thought they were going to clink the glasses for us to kiss, but when i sat down at my chair i saw they had given me the head....with bones splaying out in every direction!
i hopped over to my mom's table, where i gifted her my special plate, which almost sounds very cruel of me, but i know she loves fish heads.
sesame dumpling-ish things. so delicious. i walked around to the tables after the dinner and stole the ones that weren't eaten.
